Advanced Diagnostic Imaging Tie-ups (PET-CT, MRI & Biopsy)

Accurate cancer staging, precise anatomical localization, and early evaluation of therapeutic response are vital for optimal oncological outcomes. Precision Cancer Research Institute (PCRI) maintains formalized partnerships and prioritized clinical tie-ups with the region's leading diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine centres equipped with state-of-the-art PET-CT, high-field MRI, Multi-Slice CT, and High-Resolution Ultrasound systems.

Through this seamless imaging network, PCRI patients receive prompt diagnostic appointments, preferential scheduling, and direct case reviews with leading sub-specialized oncoradiologists.

Advanced Imaging Modalities Available

  • Whole-Body 18F-FDG PET-CT: Fuses metabolic functional data with high-resolution anatomical imaging. Crucial for initial baseline TNM staging, detecting occult primary sites, identifying distant nodal or organ metastases, restaging post-treatment, and verifying complete metabolic remission according to PERCIST criteria.
  • High-Resolution 3-Tesla & 1.5-Tesla MRI: Unsurpassed soft-tissue contrast essential for neuro-oncology (brain tumors and spinal cord assessment), hepatobiliary imaging, musculoskeletal sarcomas, and complex pelvic cancers (cervix, endometrium, rectum, and prostate).
  • Contrast-Enhanced Multi-Slice CT (CECT): Rapid, high-detail volumetric imaging of the chest, abdomen, and pelvis for baseline tumor mapping, surgical resectability assessment, and RECIST 1.1 response evaluation during chemotherapy.
  • High-Definition Ultrasonography & Color Doppler: Non-invasive evaluation of superficial lymph node stations, thyroid nodules, breast lesions, and vascular assessments for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) surveillance.

Image-Guided Biopsy & Interventional Oncology

A definitive tissue diagnosis is the first and most critical step in cancer care. Through our imaging network, patients undergo safely guided interventional procedures:

  • CT-Guided Core Needle Biopsies: High-accuracy sampling of deep lung, mediastinal, liver, retroperitoneal, and pelvic lesions with minimal patient discomfort.
  • Ultrasound-Guided Biopsies & FNAC: Precise real-time needle guidance for breast masses, neck lymphadenopathy, and superficial soft tissue tumors.
  • Therapeutic Paracentesis & Thoracentesis: Safe, ultrasound-guided fluid drainage for symptom relief in patients with malignant ascites or pleural effusion.
  • Chemoport Positioning & Patency Checks: Fluoroscopic and radiographic confirmation of vascular catheter alignment before daycare chemo cycles begin.

Integrated Digital Radiology & Oncologist Consultation

All DICOM scan images and radiological reports are directly linked to PCRI's clinical review stations. Our treating oncologists personally review the imaging slices alongside the radiologist, ensuring that every clinical decision is grounded in complete anatomical and metabolic precision.
